Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne joined Pakistan's rival camp on Friday as he worked with England's Adil Rashid in the nets, saying the newcomer needs patience to succeed at Test level. Warne, whose 708 wickets in Test cricket is second only to Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan, spent time in England's nets a day after he gave advice to Pakistan's leg-break bowler Yasir Shah.
Warne was full of praise for the rookie international bowler. "The overriding thing was that he's a wonderful bowler," said Warne of Rashid who made his debut in the drawn first Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.
"When anyone first starts their Test career, it takes time to see the best of them. What we've seen already from him are some glimpses of magic. We've already seen he can do it at this level. It's about being consistent, and that's going to take time."
Rashid went wicket-less in his 34 overs in the first innings of the drawn first Test in Abu Dhabi, conceding 163 runs.
But then he fetched five wickets in the second before England were denied a dramatic victory on the fifth and final day due to bad light.
Warne said Rashid needs to be patient.
"He's as good as anyone I've seen, ever. He has to be patient and playing on spin pitches and expectations will be high but when you start playing Tests its hard work, you can bowl rubbish a few full tosses and can be get whacked and there is always the second spell.
"You have to find ways to stay in the game so have told him some tactics against their (Pakistan) batters and a couple of few things," said Warne, who showed excitement at two leggies playing in the same Test. "It's great to have two leg-spinners in a Test series, we are lucky that we have two quality spinners so they are playing huge part in the series and will have a good battle," said Warne.
