Pakistan's import of pulses grew by 47 percent to $137.120 million in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, official figures say. Volume of pulses import also mounted by over 52 percent or 80, 277 metric tons to 233,405 metric tons during July-September 2015-16 from 153,128 metric tons in the same period last fiscal year. Overall import of pulses in the first quarter surged by $43.563 million from $93.557 million in the period last fiscal year, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows. Pulses import in September 2015 skyrocketed by almost 51 pc or $16.639 million to $49.594m from $32.955m in September 2014. Pulses import quantity in September 2015, also jumped to 84,536 metric tons from 55,627 metric tons in September 2014, up by 52 percent or 28, 909 metric tons.
