Turning around is seldom a good option for a car driver who also has to keep an eye on children in the back seat. Thanks to a new camera system from Garmin, that problem can now largely be sidelined. The Babycam transmits live video from the back seat to the displays of compatible Garmin satellite navigation systems. Voice-controlled devices can switch to the back-seat view with a simple spoken command.
Garmin says no tools are needed to affix the camera to the headrests of the front or back seats. The camera has no sharp corners, runs on AA batteries or a USB connection and offers multiple viewing angles.
Priced at 199 euros (221 dollars), the Babycam goes on sale in Europe in January.
