Some 275`campus schools' have been established in Sindh as part of the move to reform education and help improve academic standard. This was informed by an official of the Sindh Education Department here on Sunday. It was pointed out that such campuses have been set up in the government run schools in the province under the school consolidation programme.
This is also a part of the Sindh Education Reform Programme being supported by the World Bank.
The schools that have been merged in this new entity would be examined to review the steps for their betterment.
A Steering Committee has been formed under Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui.
The Commissioner chaired a meeting of the Monitoring Committee in his office to review various aspects for improving the management of the schools, says a statement on Sunday. The meeting, among others, was also attended by a representative of the World bank, Shafiq ur Rehman Piracha.
The meeting decided that the deputy commissioners would extend full assistance in their respective jurisdictions for improving the management of the schools.
They would form the inspection teams and ensure transparent utilisation of funds by the school management committees. The Commissioner was of the view that the implementation of the Sindh Education Reform Programme would help to improve the academic standard.
Piracha said that in Karachi the school consolidation under this programme has been effected quite rapidly. He maintained that the `Karachi Model' can be emulated in the other cities.
It was agreed at the meeting that the school management committee fund helps in immediately meeting the financial needs and improving the infrastructure.
Commissioner Karachi and Shafiq ur Rehman Piracha would undertake surprise visits also, the meeting further decided.
