Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that Sindh is land of sufi saints and the people living here believe in fraternity, tranquillity and are lovers of folk music. He said, "it was the folk music which cements people of different cultures together. This is why the people of Austria love our Sufi music." This he said while talking to Austrian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Brigitta Blaha who along with Austrian Honourary Consul in Karachi Babar Tajammul called on him here at the CM House Monday, said a statement.
Those who were present on the occasion were Principal Secretary to CM Alamuddin Bullo, Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Aijaz Ali Khan, Special Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi and others. Austrian Ambassador Dr Blaha said that she was going to organise music festivals in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. "We are working with National Academy of Performing Art (NAPA) and would take a delegation of 20 to 25 artists, including folk music to Austria where they would perform and then our delegation would come to Pakistan in March for music festival," she said and added that she loves folk music of Sindh.
The Sindh CM talking about sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai said that he was considered one of the greatest poets in the world. His poetry has been translated in English, German and various other languages. "It is Shah Latif who has taught the lesson of universal brotherhood and humanity," he remarked. Syed Qaim Ali Shah told the ambassador that there were lot of investment opportunities in different sectors in the province such as energy, construction of roads and tourism. "We have a wide wind corridor for generating wind power. In Tourism Gorakh Hill Station has vast opportunities of investment," he said.
Dr Brigitta Blaha showed her interest in tourism sector and said that she would work on the investment opportunities and would be in touch with Sindh government. ACS Development, Aijaz Ali Khan briefed the Ambassador on agriculture sector and water treatment plants and said that the Sindh government keen in installation of the Plant in Karachi to treat effluent of the city before discharging it into the sea. He also briefed her on Public Private Partnership (PPP) policy of Sindh government under which provincial government develops partnership with the investors. The Sindh CM presented a traditional shawl and memento of Sindh government to the Ambassador.
