The Punjab government has imposed ban under section 144 on taking out processions and rallies for celebrating victory in 12 districts of Punjab. The ban has also been imposed on carrying and displaying of arms and aerial firing. This ban will also be applicable on the licensed weapons. The order issued by Secretary Home Major Azam Suleman Khan (Retd) has come into force immediately and remain applicable up to November 4.
The ban is being imposed to ensure law & order after completion of first phase of local bodies' elections in Punjab. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has asked workers and office-bearers of Pakistan Muslim League-N not to take out processions and rallies while celebrating victory in local bodies' elections. He has appealed to the workers and office-bearers of PML-N to offer thanksgiving prayers on the historic victory of local bodies' elections and renew their pledge of service to the masses.
