A workshop on the topic of role and responsibility of withholding agents under Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act 2012, withholding rules 2015 was held here at a local hotel under the joint arrangements of Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) and German NGO GIZ.
The workshop was attended by President of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz, withholding agents of FESCO, SNGPL, Accounts Office, universities, hospitals, sugar and spinning mills, Sizing Industries and other private limited companies of Faisalabad, Sargodha and Sahiwal divisions. Commissioner Faisalabad Region Punjab Revenue Authority Imran Haey Khan, Addl Commissioner Asad Aziz, Advisors Tax, German NGOs David, Efaza Waheed and other officers of the Punjab Revenue Authority were also present in the workshop.
Addressing the participants, Commissioner PRA said that the objective of establishment of Punjab Revenue Authority was to bring service providers of different sectors into sale tax net and to provide them facilities in this regard. He highlighted the main features of sale tax collection and said that sales tax had been imposed on 59 different services by PRA and different steps had been taken to collect this tax. He said that purpose of holding of orientation workshop was to provide information, awareness and procedures to the withholding agents for tax collection. Addl Commissioner urged upon the Chamber of Commerce to extend co-operation for the recovery of sale tax from the service providers so that target could be achieved. He said that companies registered with the PRA were bound to deposit sale tax to the PRA after detecting the sale tax from their customers. Deputy Commissioner PRA Ziaur Rehman gave the details of Punjab Sale Tax services withholding rules 2015 and providing necessary information to the tax payers.
