Peace activists from India, including senior politician Mani Shankar Aiyer, former foreign secretary, Salman Haider and Sudneendra Kulkarni, Head of Observer Research Foundation visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah here on Wednesday.
They, on this occasion, laid wreaths on the Mazar and stood in silence as mark of respect to the great leader who was once also remembered as Messenger of Unity between Muslim and Hindu communities of the formerly united India.
The three activists and strong proponents of Pak-India Friendship paying their tributes to Quaid e Azam in the visitors' book wrote, sincere and mature leaders can pave way for progress of not only their own countries but also the region ultimately affecting the world scenario, for good. Mani Shankar Aiyar, a senior leader of Indian National Congress and former Petroleum Minister later talking to media said no time is odd to restore confidence of the people of the two neighbouring countries.
This is crucial to make optimum of the potential the two states and their people hold, he said mentioning that peace and tranquillity can do wonders in a region that is being deliberately pushed towards bigotry. Sudneendra Kulkarni said there is no dearth of sane people in the two countries and extremists elements have to be countered with logic and absolute sense of commitment. Peace and progress is an inherent right of the people of Indo-Pak region and it ought be honoured, said the activist.
