Chairperson Technical and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that a strategic decision has been taken to launch entirely local and international demand driven short courses in Hospitality sector. Academic department would conduct Training Need Assessment (TNA) to finalise the courses contents and possible absorption of the pass-outs in local and international markets, he added.
TEVTA will offer these demand driven short courses in collaboration with local and foreign private sector entrepreneurs. He stated this while addressing a meeting of Academics department on Friday at TEVTA Secretariat. TEVTA's Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, Abdul Qayyum, Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Mirza Umer Farooq, Muhammad Maqsood, Farooq Cheema, Sarfraz Anwar and others attended the meeting.
Irfan said that 3000 professionals will be trained in different trades of Hospitality sector through these demand driven courses. These short courses included professional cook, basic house keeping, front office management and food and beverage server. The said courses will be started in major cities of the province.
No fee will be charged and scholarship of Rs 1000 would be given to the trainees during their training period. Chairperson TEVTA further said that these courses will start from January 2016. At present, trained manpower in Hospitality sector is urgently required in local and international market especially in Middle East, he mentioned.
