Former PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza on Saturday demanded deployment of army during Local bodies' polls in Badin, claiming that there were chances of bloodshed during the polls as PPP had prepared a plan for massive rigging in the area. "I will not tolerate anyone who will try to snatch my right and will resist," he said this while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club.
Mirza said that PPP had prepared a plan for rigging and hurting my family during the LB polls but he knew how to defend their right of vote and if anything happens the government would be responsible for it. He said that a smear campaign is being launched against him and the Senior Minister for Information Nisar Khuhro gave a statement against him when he was not in a stable condition.
"My words for MQM had proved right with the passage of time and it was a deal with Asif Ali Zardari that created unrest in the city," he said adding that efforts from army, Rangers and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had brought peace in the city. He said, "When I could speak against MQM in Karachi then Badin is my hometown and I am not afraid of anyone here," he said.
He also announced that his wife and son would not resign from their posts as member of national and provincial assembly members as they have won on their popularity basis not because of party's vote. Mirza said that his election symbol was a bottle but it was not a simple bottle instead it was of Aab-i-Zam Zam. He said that the corruption starts from Asif Zardari and end on the chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
