Awami National Party (ANP), Central President, Asfandyar Wali Khan said the peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan is in best interest of the entire region, saying the Pakistan and Afghanistan are facing common threats and challenges. He asked both countries should make joint efforts to resolve their issues and bringing everlasting peace in the region.
"Pakhtuns are much capable to resolve their issues and problems, but both sides should also take measures for elimination of the terrorism and restoration of sustainable peace in the region, ANP chief said while speaking during visit of Afghanistan delegation, which arrived in Peshawar, to express condolences over death of ANP veteran leader, Afzal Khan Lala here on Saturday. On the occasion, ANP senior leaders, activists, and workers were present.
The 46-members delegation from Afghanistan, led by Deputy Chief Executive Engineer Muhammad Khan arrived in Peshawar through special plane from Kabul, to condole over sad demise of ANP veteran leader Afzal Khan Lala, who died a few days back in Swat. ANP chief, Asfandyar Wali Khan, and other leaders received the Afghan delegation at Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) Peshawar.
The Afghan delegation headed by Deputy Chief Executive Engineer Muhammad Khan, vice minister foreign affairs, along with six ministers, seven advisors, and 18 members of Afghan peace Jirga. The delegation expressed heartedly condolences with ANP leadership over death of Afzal Khan Lala. On the occasion, the head of delegation read the condolence messages of Afghan President, Ashraf Ghani, and former president Hamid Karzai.
ANP chief said the peace can not be established in Pakistan until restoration of everlasting calm in neighbouring Afghanistan. He said the meeting between Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had created hope for improving relationship between the two brotherly and friendly countries Pakistan and Afghanistan. He, however, said there are still impediments to boost-up ties on reciprocal basis.
"Islamabad and Kabul should set-together to remove grievances and settle issues of each other, and would make joint sustainable efforts for establishment of durable peace in this region, ANP leader stressed. He further said the both countries should not allow for using their soil by anti-state elements against them.
Asfandyar said the life of political leader has not remained personal. He said the politicians were faced all kind of criticism, and questions, therefore, they should be answered to all that. He said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Jehangir Tareen is only clean man in eye of his party chairman Imran Khan, while rest of people are notorious. He admitted that there were weakness and shortcoming existed in the system, but its not means the entire system is rubbish.
