Chief of Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that unless and until the rulers brought their wealth lying abroad to the country, neither the investment here could increase nor the economy of the country could improve.
While addressing the central office bearers of the Engineering Forum at Mansura, he said that all those who had plundered billion of the public money and deposited the same in personal accounts abroad, would have to be hauled up. He said that only a strict and indiscriminate accountability could control corruption and misuse of funds. However, he said that the performance of accountability institutions so far was not satisfactory.
The JI chief said that the ruling party's promises to end load shedding had proved hollow as load shedding was continuing despite the approach of winter. The energy crisis had badly hit the country's industry and agriculture and industrial workers and farmers were on roads in protest. As such, there was an atmosphere of despondence all over. The rulers had failed to build new dams to increase energy generation. He said that new water reservoirs were required to increase energy production but the rulers had not given attention to that.
The government had restricted the economic activity to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and the Metro train projects only while many other engineering fields were neglected due to which the engineers were disappointed.
Sirajul Haq said the government had also failed to improve the working of education and health sectors or to improve climate for employment. In the Medical and engineering sectors, only the students having millions could get admission and a poor father could not even think of providing higher education to his children.
He said that a cruel and exploitative system prevailed in the country and the common man was unable to meet his basic demands. He said that in such a situation, it was necessary that the educated and sober section of the society came forward to lead the nation and to get rid of the corrupt politicians and colonial agents.
Sirajul Haq said the JI had set up forums in all spheres including doctors, engineers, lawyers, kisans and workers, which would try to improve their working and bring forward prominent people.
On the occasion, the JI chief urged the Muslim world to unite to be able to face the challenges from the colonial powers. He said that Pakistan could play an important role in this respect but added that the country could not do that because of incompetent and corrupt rulers. Pakistan could also do a lot for the oppressed Muslims of Kashmir Palestine and Burma provided we were united, he added.
