Shares swung to and fro but then slipped at the Lahore Stock Exchange amid an ascending transaction volume on Wednesday. The LSE-25 index declined by 4.04 points and closed at 5536.32 points against 5539.36 points of Tuesday, while the transaction volume slightly increased to 2.018 million shares as compared to the previous 02.899 million.
Brokers admitted market players were cautious and preferred to shun from taking a fresh position. The companies that suffered were the Packages Limited, SSGCL, Pace Pakistan Limited, SNGPL, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited, K-Electric Limited and Silkbank Limited registered gains while Fauji Fertiliser Company Limited, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, Lotte Chemical Pakistan Limited, Dewan Salman Fibre Limited, Summit Bank Limited, the Bank of Punjab Limited and NIB Bank Limited.
Of 70 companies, eight showed strength and closed in green zone; seven suffered losses, while 55 others stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Those who profited were the Packages Limited which gained Rs 3.03; SSGCL improved by 59 paisas; the Pace Pakistan Limited by 48 paisas, while SNGPL, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited, K-Electric Limited and Silkbank Limited were up by 35 paisas, 33, 5 and 1, respectively. The Fauji Fertiliser Company Limited shed Rs 1.30; the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited declined by 26 paisas, Lotte Chemical Pakistan Limited lost 22 paisas, while Dewan Salman Fibre Limited, Summit Bank Limited, the Bank of Punjab Limited and NIB Bank Limited were down by 16 paisas, 13, 6 and 1, respectively. The volume toppers included the Pace Pakistan Limited with 120,000 shares, the Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited with 85,500 and the Bank of Punjab Limited with 70,500.
