Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) Wednesday submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly against the prospective imposition of additional taxes worth Rs 40 billion as per the directions of International Monetary Fund (IMF). The adjournment motion was submitted by Dr Nafisa Shah, Shazia Atta Marri, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Imran Zafar Leghari and Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani.
According to the adjournment motion, "We the undersigned would like to move an adjournment motion against the prospective imposition of additional taxes worth Rs 40 billion as per the directions of the IMF. As this will not only be a source of huge burden on the already tax laden citizens of Pakistan but will also saddle our feeble economy due to the flawed fiscal priorities of the government which calls for an exclusive discussion on the floor of the House."
