Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) on Thursday disconnected 35 distribution transformers and one span of High Transmission Conductor on non-payment of Rs 35 million. PESCO spokesman said that following the directives of Chief Executive PESCO Syed Hassan Fazil drive against illegal use of electricity and recovery various teams conducted raids in Shen Dara, Toor Karian and Mera Mashoo Gagar and disconnected power supply to several areas due to non-payment of Rs 35 million.
Meanwhile, the teams also recovered Rs 3.5 million from defaulters and removed 90 direct hooks while registering cases against the culprits, he said. He said the drive against illegal use of electricity and direct hooks would continue to stop the practice of power pilferage in the larger interest of the nation, adding that due power theft PESCO is facing huge financial and line losses on the one hand, and on the other hand PESCO's whole distribution system gets over loaded.
