An international conference on 'Women in Development' (WID) was held at the IoBM auditorium on Wednesday. The aim of the conference was to examine with follow-up and feedback women's role in contemporary development phase, women's empowerment in the labour market and access to financial resources, women's involvement in business for sustainable development of economy and society, gender equality and empowerment of women and rights of the girl child.
Topics for panel discussion were: Women in Leadership and Management: Women at the top of corporations, Women in Media: Women leaders a competitive edge in and after the crisis, Women in Entrepreneurship: Access to capital, credit and other resources to start enterprise Women in Academia: Opportunities to develop life, financial literacy, family and household management skills, Safe affordable access to primary, secondary and tertiary, Education/HealthCare.
Eminent speakers invited to the Conference included Ms Abida Taherani, Ms Ameena Saiyid, Ms Anis Haroon, Ms Ellen Chimbela, Ms Huma Baqai, Ms Jehan Ara, Ms Zubeida Mustafa, Ms Mehtab Rashidi, Ms Majida Rizvi, Ms Razan Ali, Ms Isabella Sile, Ms Masuma Hasan, Ms Musharraf Hai, Ms Navtej Purewal, Ms Rana Sheikh, Ms Rehana Kamal, Ms Rukhsana Asghar, Ms Sabin Agha, Ms Saman Mazhar, Ms Shahida Hasnain, Ms Sultana Siddiqui and others.
The management and faculty of IoBM, amid enlightened inspiration from its President Shahjehan Karim, guidance and supervision of Ms Sabina Mohsin, Director Administration, instrumental and "making it happen"| kind of role by Talib Karim, Rector, planned and organised this International Conference on Women in Development, The organising Department of this International Conference on Women in Development was IoBM's, College of Economics and Social Development (CESD) with Dr Muhammad Ali Shamim as its Dean.-PR
