The country's import of soyabean oil shot up by 113 percent to $23.242 million in September 2015, official figures said. The import bill of soyabean oil on an annual basis stands at $12.308 million in September 2015 as compared to the oil import of $10.934 million in September 2014, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics showed. Import volume of soyabean oil also skyrocketed by 176 percent or 19, 923 tons in September 2015 to 31,240 tons from 11,317 tons.
In the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2015-16, soyabean oil import moved up by 15 percent or $4.733 million to $36.951 million from $32.218 million in the same period last fiscal year 2014-15. In terms of quantity, soybean oil import surged by 26.16 percent or 8, 677 tons to 41,848 tons in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2015-16 compared to oil import of 33,171 tons in the same period last fiscal year 2014-15.
