The Punjab Government has provided Rs 5159.629 million with to impart technical skills to 0.475 million children of primary education under the project on Elimination of Child & Bonded Labour to eliminate of poverty. Chairman Punjab Planning & Development Muhammad Irfan Elahi said this while presiding over a high-level meeting of the project steering committee of the integrated project on Elimination of Child & Bonded Labour at P&D Complex here on Wednesday.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman P&D said the major cost of the project was five billion and under that programme 0.257 million children with the ages of five-14 years would get technical skills of primary education, while children of 14-18 years would also be provided technical education and training to uplift their career and get decent job opportunities.
Irfan Elahi also said under the project at least 100,000 adults will protect their lives from bonded labour. Moreover Punjab government has issued social security cards to the 150,000 brick kiln workers. Punjab Government is also ensuring to provide better facilities to child labour in their established schools so that they could get standard education and technical skills for achieving better job opportunities.
