A delegation of Crosman Corporation USA has arrived Pakistan to explore the market opportunities for its airguns. Marc Miller, the International Sales Manager, told Business Recorder that the Crosman Corporation was founded in 1923 in Rochester, New York and has been a leader in airgun innovation for more than 90 years. "I'm the first one from Crosman Corporation visiting Pakistan officially," he added.
He said the Marauder rifle of his company is very popular in Pakistan. "The Marauder is popular and we receive a good number of queries from hunting community in Pakistan annually. "The retail price of this airgun is $575. Our accessories are equally popular in Pakistan," he added. He said the Pakistani market possesses big distribution opportunity and his company has already written a success story in Pakistan.
"I'm here to study Pakistani market further to increase our share in near future." "Already, 20 to 30 percent of market share in Pakistan belongs to Crosman, followed by Diana from Germany, Gamo from Spain, Hatsan from Turkey and a lot of Chinese brands," he added. "We want increase in volume of sales in Pakistan," he stressed.
He said the Crosman products are not cheap because of the unbelievable quality checks and safety standards. He said the Pakistani market carries a great potential to grow for our product because of the size of the country. "A certain percentage of Pakistanis like expensive guns," he added.
"We are selling near $100,000 worth products to Pakistan yearly." However, he mentioned in the same breath that the Crosman was offering cheap products as well keeping in mind the affordability issue. He said he would visit Peshawar as well to explore the business opportunities there.
Javed Iqbal, the local representative of Crosman, said he had fought for lifting ban on import of airguns in Pakistan. It is a sport weapon, which is very popular in Pakistan, he added. However, he pointed out that the taxation was yet on the higher end on the import of airguns, which exceeds to 60 percent where taxation on the fire arm is relatively low.
