The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday arrested 87 human smugglers and their agents in an ongoing drive against human traffickers. An official said that the FIA teams conducted raids in different parts of the country and recovered many Pakistani passports. He said that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had asked the agency to launch crackdowns against human smugglers besides directing the Nadra Chairman and DG Passport to immediately cancel the ID cards, passports and freeze bank accounts of 300 human smugglers and their agents identified by FIA.
The official said that the FIA teams conducted raids in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta and arrested 87 human smugglers. Inam Ghani, Director FIA, said that the teams of the agency's Islamabad and Rawalpindi zones conducted raids and arrested 13 human traffickers including a proclaimed offender. He said that the FIA teams also recovered 154 passports, blank signed stamp papers and blank letterheads of different companies from the possession of the arrested people.
