Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday offered Fateha at the mausoleum of Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibne Ismail al-Bukhari, commonly known as Imam Bukhari. Born in Bukhara, Imam Bukhari died in 870 AD and buried some 25 kilometers from Samarkand. He is known as the most prominent theologian, the Hadith collector and the author of Sahih-al-Bukhari.
The PM paid rich tribute to the services of Imam Bukhari to Islam particularly for the collection of Ahadith. The tour guide apprised the PM about Imam Bukhari's life and his struggle for the collection of Ahadith. In his remarks, the PM said Imam Bukhari was a renowned name among Muslims and his collection of Ahadith is most authentic. He also visited the Imam Bukhari complex housing library and Ahadith training centre.
Following Uzbekistan's independence, on Uzbek President Islam Karimov's initiative, a magnificent memorial complex was built comprising a mausoleum, a mosque, a library and a seminary. Later, Governor of Samarkand Zair Tairov hosted a luncheon reception for the PM Nawaz Sharif. The PM reached here on second leg of two-day visit of Uzbekistan as he passed busy Tuesday in Tashkent where he met President Islam Karimov, Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyayev and discussed bilateral and regional matters of mutual interests.
