Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday rejected the unconditional apology letters of 14 police officers including Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali in contempt case.
The Sindh High Court (SHC) had initiated contempt proceedings against Inspector General of Sindh Police Ghulam Haider Jamali and others in a case relating to the siege of the high court's building and torture on the former home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza's guards and media men by Commandos of the Special Security Unit (SSU) on March 23.
The policemen had also smashed several parked vehicles and snatched cameras from journalists. Masked police men attacked Mirza's guards and journalists outside SHC on March 23. The court while dismissing the apologies stated that all the officers will be indicted in the case on November 25. It is pertinent to mention here that the SHC had issued contempt notices to 14 police officers including IG Sindh on which an unconditional apology was submitted by the officers in the court.
