Austria's cross-country team skidded deeper into an ongoing doping scandal Thursday, with the national ski federation (OeSV) announcing the suspension of ex-junior world champion Harald Wurm over his alleged use of banned substances. The federation also revealed that long-standing national trainer Gerald Heigl would temporarily step down after it emerged his name had been mentioned in Wurm's police file.
The OeSV was given access to police files of the two-time Olympian who was placed under investigation in August. "After studying his file, we expect that Wurm will face legal proceedings over doping," the federation said in a press statement.
