England's commanding performance in the ODI series against Pakistan is clearly reflected in the latest ICC ODI Player Rankings, which has seen a number of its players make upward movements. In the ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen, England's Jos Buttler has returned to the top 20 to be in 17th position after rising six places, International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the other day.
The wicketkeeper-batsman, who also played in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2010 in New Zealand, scored 177 runs in four matches, including a breath-taking 116 not out in the fourth ODI.
By virtue of this rise, Buttler has become England's second highest-ranked batsman, one place behind Joe Root who has slipped to 16th after scoring 145 runs. The two batsmen are now separated by just 13 points.
James Taylor is the other England batsman who has stormed up the chart. The 25-year-old was the sixth most successful run-getter in the series with 149 runs, for which he has been rewarded with a jump of 21 places that has put him in a career-best 36th spot.
England opener Jason Roy has vaulted 12 places to 88th, following his series aggregate of 163 runs, while his partner Alex Hales has shot up 27 places to 97th after scoring 171 runs in the series.
The only good news for Pakistan in the batting table is the rise of Mohammad Hafeez, captain Azhar Ali and Sarfraz Ahmed.
Hafeez, who finished as the leading run-getter with 184 runs, has moved up three places to 26th, Azhar Ali has gained 12 places and is now in 40th position while Sarfraz is in the 67th spot after climbing 17 places.
There is no change in the top 10, which is headed by South Africa captain AB de Villiers, followed by Virat Kohli of India and New Zealand's Kane Williamson.
In the ICC Player Rankings of ODI bowlers, England's Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid have achieved career-best rankings.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Irfan has moved up two places to 12th after finishing with seven wickets in the series, Wahab Riaz has gained 12 places and is now in 39th position, while Yasir Shah is on a career-high 58th spot after climbing 17 places.
The bowling list is headed by the West Indies' Sunil Narine. He is followed by Australia's Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult of New Zealand.
In the all-rounders' list, Hafeez has moved up one place to third in the only change in the top five, while Moeen Ali has entered the top 10 for the first time in ninth position (up by three places).
Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh leads the all-rounders' chart.
In the ICC ODI Team Rankings, both England and Pakistan have retained their pre-series rankings of sixth and eighth, respectively, but England has gained one point to move to 101 while Pakistan has dropped one point to slip to 87.
