Punjab Health Secretary Jawad Rafiq Malik has said that additional resources will be provided to the Environmental Protection Department for efficient dengue surveillance, especially more field staff to strengthen Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Sheikhupura. He stated this while chairing a meeting to further improve the dengue surveillance. Environment Director General Javed Iqbal told the meeting that his department is responsible to survey tyre-shops, junkyards, nurseries and warehouses.
It also emerged that the district set-up of the Environmental Protection Department would be further strengthened with additional posts of districts officers and their deputies and other staff in the four districts.
