Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan held a rally in Tarlai, Islamabad on Friday against the code of conduct of Election Commission of Pakistan. According to details, District Returning Officer (DRO) Chaudhry Aleem Shahab had written a letter to the district administration on Thursday requesting the cancellation of Imran Khan's rally in Islamabad. The DRO argued that parliamentarians could not hold a rally after issuance of schedule for the local government election. The administration responded in favour of the DRO's stance and barred the PTI chairman from holding a rally in Tarlai.
According to the details of the letter, Shahab stated that the PTI chairman is expected to hold a rally in Islamabad on Friday. The DRO requested the administration to stop the rally and warned that if the codes of conduct of ECP are breached, strict action will be taken against the violators. An official of ECP said that the commission has also taken notice of the breach of code of conduct and the matter will come under discussion in the meeting of the ECP. He recalled that the PTI had committed violations of code of conduct in the past as well and later they apologised.
