Travellers using Daewoo's express bus service will now be able to watch high-definition footage of Pakistan's beautiful natural heritage as they traverse the country. The transportation company has added the Dawood Foundation (TDF)'s 'Nature Series' documentaries to its entertainment offering on its entire operational fleet of 324 buses.
TDF's documentaries are about conservation issues related to two of Pakistan's famous national parks - Margalla Hills and Chitral Gol. The preservation of the national parks is intrinsically tied to the livelihoods of the local communities that rely on the parks for subsistence.
TDF is using these documentaries to educate people about the importance of protecting the country's natural heritage, which is under severe threat due to climate change amongst other factors. Changin Park, President, Daewoo Pakistan Express Bus Service Ltd, said, "We have always prided ourselves in providing a range of information and entertainment options to our customers.
However, TDF Nature Series documentaries are very significant items on the menu, as the importance of environmental education cannot be stressed enough. We are happy to be able to play a small role in spreading awareness about this topic." Sabrina Dawood, CEO, The Dawood Foundation, said, "Daewoo's extensive network means that these documentaries will be accessible to half a million people every month.
That presents a great opportunity to educate people about environmental issues, which are desperately needed at a time when vulnerability to climate change is one of Pakistan's biggest problems." The films display breathtaking scenery of landscape and wildlife as mountains, forests and animals make stunning appearances while the narrator explains the inexorable link between the land and the people. Thus far, through a range of activities conducted by TDF, including visits to schools and direct engagement with people in over 100 villages and cities, almost 100,000 people have seen these documentaries.-PR
