Islamabad LG polls: Imran accuses government of preventing him from campaigning

Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, on Saturday accused the government of making an attempt to prevent him from election campaigning in Islamabad. "In no democracy is a political leader, especially one not holding any public office, prevented from campaigning for his party in an election," Imran wrote on his official twitter account. "Yet attempt was made to prevent me from campaigning for my party in Islamabad LG polls even though PML-N ministers and MNAs doing the same," he added.
The PTI chairman said that he had to evade police blockades/containers by driving through dirt tracks and fields to make it to public meeting last night(Sunday). He said military dictatorship of General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) was less oppressive than incumbent Nawaz Sharif's government. "Having opposed both, I can vouch that Musharraf's military dictatorship was less oppressive than Nawaz's dictatorship in the garb of democracy," Imran said. Comparing the two governments, the PTI chairman said police was never used with such brutality as it is being used under Sharif brothers. "Police was never used with such brutality as it is being used under the Sharifs - as displayed in the Model Town massacre." He said that the government used police, especially in the Local Government elections, adding that two FIRs were registered against him for holding election campaign.
