Advisor to Chief Minster Sindh on Information, Moula Bux Chandio has said that the corruption could be eliminated if the process of elections was allowed to continue. He said this while speaking at a reception held in his honour by Hyderabad Press Club (HPC) here on Monday. Continuity of democracy should be allowed to flourish as this is only way to resolve problems such as corruption and other evils, he added.
"Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) has again won general as well as local bodies' elections with majority which showed that the PPP-led government has delivered in the province," he maintained. If it had not delivered to the people of Sindh, the people would have rejected it in the elections held in 2013 and 2015, he said, adding that the PPP-led government had also laid down network of various development projects but it had failed to show such performance at national and international level as Punjab government did.
Many parties and their leaders were claiming that they would defeat the PPP in local bodies' elections and some of them were thinking to shift their party headquarters to Sindh province but the people of Sindh had rejected them in LG polls, Chandio said. Talking about Dr Zulfiquar Mirza, he said that Mirza had won elections from only Badin city not from the whole district and there were some Union Councils (UCs) in the district where the elections would be held and the PPP would make clean sweep there, the advisor hoped.
Mirza had formed alliance with those who had already been rejected by the people in different elections, he said, adding that even Imtiaz Shaikh could not win the elections from his home city and the same situation happened with Arbab, Liqaut Jatoi and others.
He said while criticising over Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and PTI Chief Imran Khan that it was immoral to abuse anybody as such things might incite conflicts. Leadership should be careful while giving any comment against anyone, he added. When asked about the upcoming LG election in Karachi, he refused to comment. Replying to a question, he said that it would be favourable for his party to be part of Hyderabad district government because they and other communities living in Hyderabad had close relations with each others.
It would be better for former speaker National Assembly Dr Fahmida Mirza to stand by her husband Dr Zulfiqar Mirza in his difficult time, he said while replying to another question.
