Ukraine exported about 3.3 million tonnes of grain from its seaports in November compared with 3.9 million in October, analyst UkrAgroConsult said on Tuesday. The exports consisted of 1.27 million tonnes of wheat, 224,200 tonnes of barley and 1.76 million tonnes of maize, the consultancy said in a statement. Ukraine exported its wheat mostly to Egypt, Thailand and Bangladesh. Barley was exported to Saudi Arabia and Japan, and maize to Spain, Egypt and Netherlands.
UkrAgroConsult said 1.3 million tonnes of grain, including about 770,000 tonnes of maize, was expected to be shipped from ports in coming days. Ukraine plans to harvest about 60 million tonnes of grain in 2015 and expects that 36 million tonnes could be sold abroad in the 2015/16 season which runs from July to June. Ukraine exported 35 million tonnes of grain in 2014/15.
The agriculture ministry and traders agreed last month to limit exports of wheat from Ukraine to 16.6 million tonnes in the 2015/16 season. Ukraine had already exported about 9 million tonnes of wheat in the first five month of this season, according to UkrAgroConsult calculations, leaving about 7.6 million tonnes of wheat for export in the remaining seven months.
