Pakistan State Oil Company launched a tender to buy seven cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) with a capacity of 140,185 cubic metres each over January and February next year. Deliveries must be made at the Port Qasim terminal in three day loading windows starting on January 10, 2016, and ending on February 25, 2015, PSO said in tender documents on its website.
The tender will close on December 15 and offers will remain valid until December 25, it said. Pakistan, which suffers from chronic power shortages, started to import LNG for the first time this year. Weakening demand and rising supply since early 2014 in Asia, the world's biggest LNG-consuming region, has increasingly led to the sale of surplus cargoes on spot markets via tenders.
