Customs prosecutor Farhat Abbas Lodhi challenged the Court of Special Judge Customs' order regarding delivery of passports to model Ayyan Ali in the Islamabad High Court on Monday. Special Customs Court Rawalpindi had returned passports of model Ayyan Ali against two surety bonds of one million rupees each in addition to personal guarantee of one million rupees on December 01.
On March 14, Customs officials apprehended Ayyan Ali from Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 506,800 dollars from her luggage while traveling abroad. The officials confiscated the money and her passport. Filing the appeal before the IHC, Lodhi urged the court to cancel the Special Court's decision on the grounds that passport is one of the material evidence in the case. He further said that delivery of passport to Ayyan Ali may have adverse effect on the trial in the matter as she can travel abroad.
