Railways liabilities remain Rs82.899bn during 2016-17, Senate told
ISLAMABAD: Total liabilities of Pakistan Railways remained Rs 82.899 billion during the financial year 2016-17, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told Senate.
Answering the question of Senator Mohsin Aziz, he said total current liabilities of Pakistan Railways were Rs 12.415 billion, security and deposits’ liabilities were Rs 11.755 billion, while accrued liabilities were Rs 0.092 billion in 2016-17.
Foreign Loans/Credits of Railways are Rs 29.348 billion, overdraft of State Bank of Pakistan was Rs 34.519 billion, staff benefit and Provident funds were Rs 6.617 billion during the aforementioned period.
He said the Accounts of Pakistan Railways for Fiscal Year 2017-18 would be finalized by July 31, 2018.
The overdraft taken from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is also not being repaid to SBP.
