Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Thursday strongly condemned proposed privatisation of PIA and staged demonstration in front of booking office and urged the government to withdraw this decision immediately. The demonstration led by JAC office-bearers Asad Bukhari, Mehr Karim Klasra, Mehr Qadar Bakhsh, Jawad Umar. They shouted slogans against privatisation decision and vowed adopting all measures to stop PIA privatisation.
JAC members said promulgation of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Conversion Ordinance has created panic among employees and they were showing their resentment against the government's decision to privatise PIA under an agreement with the International Monetary Fund for a loan programme. People's Unity President Asad Bukhari said PIA employees had laboured to maintain high standards for PIA. That is why so many people repose confidence in the national carrier, he added.
