Legislators and public officials of Pakistan and India will share each others experiences on good governance, local government systems and anti-corruption mechanism in Dubai today (Saturday) with a view to eradicate corruption in the two countries. The dialogue will be organised by the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (Pildat) under the title "Pakistan-India Legislators and Public Officials Dialogue on Sharing of Experiences on Governance and Democracy".
According to Abbas Ahmed Niazi, Communication Officer of the Pildat, Pakistani delegation will comprise parliamentarians, bureaucrats/experts including MP Syed Naveed Qamar of Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP), Senator Taj Mohammad Afridi (IND, FATA), Mahtab Akbar Rashdi MPA Sindh Assembly, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, Mian Mehmood ur Rashid MPA Punjab Assembly, PTI Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja MPA PML-N Punjab Assembly, Nazim Peshawar Arbab Asim of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Director General-NAB (Lahore), Punjab Major Syed Burhan Ali (Retd), Said Rehman, Director Local Governance School Peshawar and Shahid Hamid former Governor of Punjab.
Similarly, 10 to 12 members delegation from India including members from Rajya Sabha, Vidhan Sabha and experts and bureaucrats will attend the dialogue, prominent of them included Mani Shankar Aiyar, INC, Member, Rajya Sabha, Dr Sharan Prakash Patil, INC, MLA, Panchayat Expert and currently Minister for Medical Education, Government of Karnataka and A V Swamy, IND, Member, Rajya Sabha, Odisha.
Pakistani delegation will interact with their Indian counterparts from the Rajya Sabha, Vidhan Sabha and experts and bureaucrats to discuss areas including the local government system, anti-corruption mechanisms and institutions to address the problem of corruption in India and Pakistan. The Pildat team includes Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, President Pildat; Aasiya Riaz, Joint Director, and Shahira Khan, Projects Officer.
