The LSE-25 index shed 50.87 points to 5349.64 against 5400.51 of last Friday as equities suffered losses across the board amid sluggish trading trend on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Monday. The transaction volume restricted to 400,500 shares as compared to the previous volume of 1.441 million shares.
Most of the bluechips including Pakistan Oil Fields, PPL, Byco Petroleum, Hascol Petroleum, Engro Corporation, Honda Atlas Cars, Hub Power, Pace Pakistan, Fauji Cement and Pak Elektron remained under selling pressure and ended in negative zone. However, a few companies like Mari Petroleum, Maple Leaf Cement, Habib Bank and Sui Northern resisted pressure.
The losers were more than the gainers as out of a total of 68 active issues, five companies posted gains, 25 suffered declines while 38 companies remained unchanged at their last week closing. Mari Petroleum improved by Rs 32.00 while Maple Leaf Cement and Habib Bank registered marginal gains of 81 paisas and 70 paisas respectively.
In the minus column, Pakistan Oil Fields lost Rs 7.58, Engro Corporation declined by Rs 5.16, PPL shed Rs 4.18, Honda Atlas Cars and Hascol Petroleum were down by Rs 3.98 and Rs 2.45, respectively. Bank of Punjab with trading of 180,000 shares topped the volume leaders followed by Silk Bank with 67,500 shares.
