Sindh Education Minister Nisar Khuhro has announced to move a resolution regarding Rangers' extension in stay and policing powers on Wednesday. The minister vowed to present the much awaited and talked about resolution tomorrow (Wednesday). He made an appeal to the opposition to not protest. However, the Sindh Assembly once again witnessed ruckus on Tuesday.
The session started with a two-hour delay. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Functional (PML-F) walked out of the session on the basis of delay in presentation of a resolution seeking extension in Rangers' stay. Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and opposition member Shehryar Mehr exchanged hot words which widened the noisy arguments in the assembly.
Khuhro formally started the session by reading out loud the Article 147. He promised to move a resolution on government's behalf tomorrow. He urged the media to pitch a 'clash' in the Sindh Assembly to the audiences. At the time, PML-F's Shehryar Mehr stood up to address the participants of the session however, speaker Durrani rejected the request. The act led to exchange of hot words between the two.
Meanwhile, other members of the PML-F, PML-N and PTI lodged a protest and demanded the Speaker to let them speak. In a bid to counter the tension, Durrani began with the questions break. However, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members did not participate in the protest and carried on with the questions break. Earlier on December 14, opposition parties had protested and termed the delay in presentation of the resolution a 'move on purpose'. In two sessions of the past week, the government avoided discussion on the issue and no resolution was moved.
