US Secretary of State John Kerry reaffirmed his country's support to Pakistan in fighting terrorism and emphasised the need of uniting in opposing the 'poisonous ideology' that feed terrorism. In his message to mark the one-year anniversary of the attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar, the US Secretary of State remembered the victims, students and teachers, who were killed in the outrageous attack by terrorists in one of the deadliest attack in Pakistan.
"We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and we underscore our condemnation of that cowardly act of mass murder," Kerry said in a message released by the State Department. He recalled that last summer, he met some of the students in Washington who survived that tragic day and said they were a "testament to the resilience and spirit of the Pakistani nation".
Kerry said the tragic incident was a reminder of how important it was that good and decent people everywhere unite in opposition to terrorism and to the poisonous ideology that fuels it. "The United States reaffirms our determination to stand with the Pakistani people, and people everywhere, in countering violent extremism and in building a secure and prosperous future for all our citizens," the Secretary said.
