The opposition members in the National Assembly have raised serious objections on the implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) and performance of National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA). Syed Naveed Qamar of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said that the ruling PML-N is not implementing the NAP in letter and sprit. He said earlier it was mentioned to establish counter terrorism force but so far nothing has been done in this regard.
He said that Interior ministry did nothing to improve the role of NACTA. He said that the ministry should speed up its efforts to send Afghan refugees back. Shireen Mazari of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said that the authority is playing limited role and suggested to set up its separate secretariat. She said the meetings of civil and military leadership should be held in the secretariat of NACTA. About the implementation of NAP, she said that the PML-N government took no action in connection with hate literature which is being distributed across the country. She said there is a need of counter narrative to curb terrorism across the country.
