The two day 352nd annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Mian Mir (RA) begin here today with laying of wreaths at the Mazar by the devotees, recitation from the holy Quran, Naat Khwani and Qawallies, prayers for peace, progress and solidarity of the fatherland will also be offered.
The Auqaaf department has arranged several programmes, seminars and lectures to high light the essential teaching and universal message of Quran and Sunnah.Hazrat Mian Mir resided in Lahore specifically in the town of Begampura. He belonged to the Qadiri order of Sufism. He was respected and loved by all schools of religious thought. Even Gurus requested him to lay the foundation stone of the Harmandir Sahib, (now known world-wide as the Golden Temple in Amritsar on 1st Magh, Samvat 1647 (13 January 1588 AD).
