Fast bowler Muhammad Aamir is among the 26 probabless invited by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for a fitness-cum-conditioning camp being held at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore from December 21 to January 7, 2016. Aamir, who served jail term in England for his involvement in spot-fixing charges with team-mates Salman Butt and Muhammad Asif during the series against England in 2010, was allowed to resume cricket career in September this year by world governing body.
Calling Aamir in the camp indicate revival of left arm pace bowler Muhammad Amir's career, who played 14 Tests, 15 ODIs and 18 Twenty20 Internationals. Mohammad Amir, performed well on the domestic first class circuit and in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League for Chittgong Vikings. According to PCB, the main objective of the camp is to improve the overall physical fitness of all players and to enhance the technical aspect of each player's game and to prepare them for the upcoming international events.
"Shaharyar M. Khan, Chairman PCB has approved the names of 26 players picked up by the PCB National Selection Committee for the fitness camp," said a PCB statement. The players who are engaged in the Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Trophy Super Eight Round have been granted permission to play their domestic matches scheduled between December 20-23. These players will join the training camp not later than December 24.
Pace bowler Imran Khan Junior and veteran batsman Riffatullah Mehmand, who played against in the series against England were not invited in the camp. However Test fast bowler Umar Gul, who had recovered from injry has been invited in the camp. Players invited for training camp are: Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Sharjeel Khan, Azher Ali, Shoaib Malik, Babar Azam, Iftikhar Ahmed, Umer Akmal, Asad Shafiq, Shahid Afridi. Sarfraz Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan, Bilal Asif, Sohaib Maqsood Aamir Yamin, Wahab Riaz, Anwer Ali, Mohammad Irfan, Umer Gul, Rahat Ali, Junaid Khan, Rumman Raees, Immad Wasim, Yasir Shah, Saad Nasim and Mohammad Aamir.
