Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Quetta on Monday claimed to have confiscated 39 buses loaded with smuggled goods worth Rs 150 million. According to official sources, the action was taken on a secret information, which revealed that some unscrupulous elements were planning to bring smuggled goods into the country from Iran.
Reacting on the information, stiff vigilance was mounted. Resultantly, the MCC staff during surveillance intercepted some 39 buses at Quetta and recovered smuggled goods comprises ball bearings, plastic Dana, plastic shopping bags, apples etc. They said that these buses were coming in pilgrims' convoy under police and FC escort and added that the estimated value of goods were Rs 150 million. Consequent upon recovery, legal proceedings have been initiated and further investigation is underway, they added.
