According to unofficial and unconfirmed results of by-elections for National Assembly constituency, NA-154 Lodhran, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Jahangir Khan Tareen defeated his opponent Siddique Khan Baloch of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). According to unofficial and unconfirmed results of NA-154 Lodhran, PTI candidate Jahangir Khan succeeded by securing 129,606 votes against Siddique Khan's 93,183 votes.
The voting begun at 8am on Wednesday morning and continued without interval till 5pm. A total of 303 polling stations were set up in NA-154; of these 30 were declared sensitive and six 'highly sensitive'. Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had deputed Pakistan Army inside and outside polling stations to ensure free, fair and transparent by-election. The polling was held in peaceful environment.
Baloch had won this seat in 2013 general elections as an independent candidate and later joined PML-N. He was de-seated by an election tribunal in August on a petition of Tareen who claimed vote rigging in election. Tareen thanked the voters for casting their votes in his favour. He said that people of Lodhran have rejected the policies of the ruling party. Meanwhile, chairman PTI Imran Khan telephoned Tareen and congratulated him on his success.
