Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch on Wednesday submitted his resignation to Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai. Governor Achakzai while accepting his resignation lauded the services of Dr Malik Baloch towards development of the province and establishing law and order and hoped that he would continue to play his important role in this regard in coming days.
"I have quit the office of chief minister in accordance with the Murree accord," Dr Malik Baloch said after submitting his resignation. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had earlier nominated President Balochistan PML-N Nawab Sanaullah Zehri as the next chief minister. PML-N, National Party and Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party had signed an agreement in Murree according to which December 4 this year was supposed to be the last day of Dr Malik Baloch as the chief minister of Balochistan after expiry of his two-and-a-half years' tenure. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chairman PkMAP Mahmood Achakzai, Senator Hasil Bizenjo had signed the agreement. Deputy speaker Balochistan Assembly, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo also submitted his resignation Wednesday evening. The deputy speaker, who belongs to Muslim League (Q), submitted his resignation with the assembly's secretariat.
