Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in the provincial metropolis, here on Thursday. The celebrations were in full swing right from Fajr with special prayers held at mosques, religious seminaries and other Mehafil-e-Milad held in this regard. Conferences and meetings on Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) were also held in different parts of the city where speakers highlighted various aspects of Uswa-e-Hasna as a constant source of guidance for the mankind.
Main procession was taken out from Lahore Railway Station, under the aegis of Central Committee for Jashn-e-Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, which was participated by a large number of the faithful. A Seerat conference was also held which was attended by Punjab Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs and other prominent persons. Data Ganj Bukhsh Mosque's Khateeb performed the flag hoisting ceremony and former Justice Dr Munir Mughal presided over the Seerat conference.
Public and private buildings, markets, houses, roads and streets had been decorated beautifully. Special prayers were also offered for unity of Muslim Ummah, as well as progress and prosperity of Pakistan. The procession culminated at Data Darbar where Administrator Corporation performed Dastar Bandi of the leaders of the procession. Medical camps were also set up to facilitate the participants of the procession, while Rescue 1122 Emergency Service, bomb disposal squad, fire brigade, Civil Defence and police personnel remained alert to deal with any untoward incident.
Punjab police made foolproof security arrangements for the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) to ensure peace and tranquillity throughout the province. CDGL and Lahore waste management company have launched a special cleanliness drive to remove solid waste from the routes of Milad processions, mosques and other parts of the city.
