Religious scholars and political leaders at seminar have stressed the need to forge unity among their ranks and promote religious harmony among all religious sects, and vowed to thwart any subversive act to challenge the sovereignty and integrity of the country. They praised the sacrifices of security forces and people for restoration of everlasting peace and stability.
They expressed these views while speaking at Istekaam-e-Pakistan conference and Role of Ulema-o-Mashaik, and politicians, in establishment of sustainable peace organized by Almi Muttahida Ulema-o-Mashaik Council and Interfaith Harmony at local hotel here on Saturday.
Notable speakers include provincial chief of Almi Muttahida Ulema-o-Mashaik Council, and Interfaith Harmony Allama Maulana Muhammad Shoaib, JI acting provincial general secretary Baharul Advocate, JUI-F Qari Rafi Shah, PML-Q provincial president Intikhab Chamkani, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Dr Shamsur Rehman, Pakistan Rahe Haq Party Sarwar Rahmani, Pasban Qari Musahib Gul, along with religious scholars and Ulema.
Allama Muhammad Shoaib in his opening remarks said Islam is religion of peace and tranquillity, in which gave equal rights to minority and praised the sacrifices of law enforcement agencies and people for restoration of sustainable peace in the country. He furthermore said the Ulema and political leaders had played important role in creation of the country,
He said country is being faced with terrorism, extremism, along with internal and external challenges, so it is obligation of Ulema and mashaik to play their due role for creation of awareness among people to unit nation on one platform against terrorism, extremism and to foil all kind of challenges to the country, he stressed.
Allama Shoaib especially recalled the sacrifices of APS martyrs, which had united the entire nation against terrorism and extremism. He said government had devised a national action plan (NAP) in result of Peshawar attack, and the country is heading toward prosperity and stability due to effective implementation of NAP. He said the Pakistan Army under the leadership of General Raheel Sharif, is taking steps for protection and stability of the country, which are unmatchable and irreversible, and said Ulema and Mashaik is fully backed the measures for restoration of everlasting peace in the country.
Highlighting role of Ulema and politicians in establishment of peace, the speakers lauded the positive results due to effective implementation of National Action Plan across the country, and demanding to continue enforcement of NAP in its letter and spirit.
The participants also welcomed the provincial government steps regarding formation of Public Liaison Committee (PLC) however they urged to make selection of members for the proposed PLC by conducting proper scrutiny.
Ulema have expressed concern over crackdown against religious seminaries and linking them with terrorism, which is unbearable and unacceptable to them. They asked the government to abstain from imposing baseless allegations on religious institutions in the country, and demanding to bring easiness in registration process of religious seminaries. They also praised the activities of National Peace committee for revival of peace and stability in the country.
