Just after two days, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has violated its own announcement to abandon the VIP culture and no road would be closed for any VIP movement. But the provincial capital authorities on Monday ripped apart the provincial government's orders and blocked Sher Shah Suri Road for Chief Minister Pervez Khattak's convoy.
The road was completely blocked for traffic for ten minutes as the Chief Minister's convoy left Archives Hall Peshawar after attending a ceremony there. Long queues of vehicles were witnessed and motorists looked perturbed due to the security protocol. Earlier on December 26, Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had issued a notification, stating that the provincial government has abandoned undue and extra protocol, restrictions and blockage of public roads during VVIP and VIP visits throughout the province to avoid any inconvenience to the general public.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan also claimed while addressing a public gathering in Lodhara that traffic in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province would not be stopped for a VIP movement of any dignitary including the Prime Minister. Khan further said the VIP culture should also go down after the death of innocent Bisma Faisal.
It is pertinent to mention that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government issued a notification after a 10-month-old child, Bisma Faisal, died outside the Civil Hospital Karachi apparently due to security protocol for PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, who were present inside the hospital to inaugurate a trauma center. The father of the child alleged that he was barred from entering the hospital and his daughter died because she could not receive timely treatment for measles complications.
