The grand finale of the 'Ya Qurban' music competition was held at Gor Khatree in which three finalist amateur singers selected from seven divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Culture organised the event to hunt new talent and provide an opportunity of recreation to the people.
The Ya Qurban series started from Mardan division in November which later also held in Abbottabad, Peshawar, Malakand, Dera Ismail Khan and Kohat divisions and many amateur music lovers and youngsters participated. Twenty-one singers selected during the last talent hunt series turned up for the final music contest at Gor Khatree.
Secretary Sports, Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs Department Muhammad Azam Khan, Additional Secretary Muhammad Tariq, Deputy Secretary Adil Safi, Director Culture Abdul Basit, Deputy Director Ajmal Khan and other officials besides a large number of audiences were present on the occasion. Laiq Zada Laiq, Nisar Muhammad Khan, Ahmad Gul and Mahjabeen Qizilbash performed as judges at the music grand finale.
The first position holder was given Rs 0.3 million cash prize and Ahmad Khan Ustad Award while Rs 0.2 million and Rs 0.1 million cash prizes were awarded to the second and third position holders, respectively. The theme of the Ya Qurban music talent hunt was floated by noted writer and poet Abaseen Yousafzai, which was lauded by singers, artistes and spectators alik.
Earlier, every programme of the Ya Qurban music contest at divisional level was attributed to a famous singer and the awards were also themed in the names of artistes, who earned name and fame because of their melodious voices during his/her singing careers.
