FATA Youth Festival: Benazir of Khurram Agency declared best athlete

Benazir of Khurram Agency declared best athlete of the First Governor Fata Youth Festival Women Athletic event played here at Qayyum Sports Complex in all female affairs. Besides taking the best athlete trophy, Benazir also got the honour of becoming the fastest athlete of the Meet as she got gold medal in 100m, 200m and 400m. Her team-mate Fatima, also hailing from Khurram Agency won silver medal in 100m, 200m and 400m.
Saima Khan of Khyber Agency and Kainat of Mohmand Agency were jointly declared as bronze medallists in the 100m, and Saba of Mohmand Agency won bronze medal in 200m while Saima also got bronze medal in 400m flat race. In the Discus Throw Uzma of Khurram Agency got first position, followed by Shabina of Khurram Agency, and Arafat of Khyber Agency. In the Javelin throw Uzma of Khurram Agency won gold medal, followed by Sana of Khyber Agency and Kiran of Khurram Agency.
In the shot put Shabina of Khurram Agency won gold medal, followed by Kiran of Khurram Agency and Sana of Khyber Agency. In the Long Jump Shabina of Khurram Agency, Asia of Khyber Agency and Saima of Khyber Agency won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. In the overall team position Khurram Agency grabbed the athletic trophy by securing 58 points, followed by Khyber Agency with 13 points and Mohmand Agency remained at third with nine points.
The overall major games trophy also won by Khurram Agency of winning table tennis and tug-of-war titles besides securing runners-up position in badminton. At the end, Secretary Sports, Admin and Social Sector, Syed Zaheer Ul Islam was the chief guest on this occasion who gave away medals, certificates and cash prizes to the position holders. Principal Government Girls Degree College Jamrud Khyber Agency Dr Hameeda Bano, Principal Government Girls Degree College Alizai Khurram Agency Miss Shaheen Begum, Principal Government Girls Higher Secondary School Subhan Khuar Miss Samina Yousaf, Principal Government Girls Degree College Yaka Ghund, Mohmand Agency, Assistant Director Sports Miss Nazia Zaki, Agency Sports Manager Rahid Gul Mulagori, Meet Conductor Ayub Khan and large number of female spectators were also present.
In the Men Netball played at Tehsil Jamrud Khyber Agency, Khyber Agency secured the trophy after defeating Khurram Agency by 16-13 in a thrilling final witnessed by capacity crowd present on this occasion with their cheering hands. Senior Vice President Engr Saif Ul Islam was the chief guest on this occasion. The final was started on fast tempo and Khurram scored three quick goals but Khyber Agency team when settle down it gave a tough response to Khurram Agency team. The goal tally was locked 8-8 in the first quarters and that so was in the second, third and fourth quarters. Both Khyber Agency and Khurram Agency gave each other a tough fight. At the end, Khyber Agency team, who have an edge of the cheering spectators took the final by 16-13.
