Khyber Agency clinched the overall trophy after securing 173 points in various disciplines part of the first Governor FATA Youth Festival concluded here at Qayyum Sports Complex on Wednesday.
President Mamnoon Hussain was the chief guest on this occasion. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, FATA MNA, FATA elders, members of the Provincial Assemblies, ACS FATA Muhammad Aslam, Secretary Sports and Admin Syed Zaheer Ul Islam, senior civil officials, Director Sports and Youth Affairs FATA, Agency Sports Manager, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Secretary FATA Olympic Tayyab Abdullah, Association Shahid Khan Shinwari, President FATA Athletic Association Engr. Saif Ul Islam, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present.
Khyber Agency got gold medal in 11 different disciplines, silver medal in four and got bronze medal in five various events. Bajaur Agency secured 66 points by taking second position in seven different events while remained third position in two different events. Mohmand Agency got three gold, three silver medals and three bronze medals and Kurram Agency took four gold medals and two silver medals.
FR Kohat with got three gold medal and one silver by securing 37 points, North Waziristan Agency got 27 points with one gold, one silver and 2 bronze medals, FR Bannu took one gold and one bronze medal by securing 15 points, FR Peshawar (14), South Waziristan Agency (10), FR Lakki (07), were the other position holders. FR Tank, FR Dera Ismail Khan and Orakzai Agency failed to get any medals and were point less.
In the overall games position Khyber Agency got first position in Cricket, Table Tennis, Archery, Baseball, Cricket Handicap, Badminton female, Shooting, Cricket Handicap, Bodybuilding, Feetball, Boxing, and took second position in Hockey, Rugby, Table Tennis, (female), athletics (female) and remained third in football, basketball, badminton, Tug-of-War (male and female).
Earlier, the colourful closing ceremony was started with recitation from Holy Quran by Qazi Abdur Rehman, followed by National Anthem. Former Federal Minister and MNA from Orakzai Agency Ghazi Gulab Jamal presented a traditional turban to the President Mamnoon Hussain soon after arrival as the chief guest in the concluding ceremony first Governor FATA Youth Festival.
